Luc Schelstraete, an enthusiast for Art and Horses, is born in 1960 in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, the south of the Netherlands.
Luc finished his studies at a law school in 1985. He has been a commercial lawyer ever since, and he is specialized in two niches; Equine business and Art. For more info, please visit the following websites: www.schelstraete.nl and www.europeanequinelawyers.com.
Since opening his own practice in 1989, he has been collecting Art.
His first purchases from the Gallery ‘De Verbeelding’ are still in his possession; which are several paintings from Henk Eikenaar and a ceramic sculpture form Jack Poell.
Being born in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen means that the Belgian cultural influence was inevitable. The work of the Belgian painters; like Constant Permeke and Gustaaf De Smet was Luc’s favorites. At the same time, Luc was very passionate for the famous Flemish writers; like Hugo Claus and Hubert Lampo.
Romanticism & Realism are the keywords of Luc’s life and his passion for Art.
Collecting Art develops an eagerness for the unknown artists. At the beginning of 2020, Luc’s law firm moved in ‘s-Hertogenbosch; at which he has also established his gallery Art @ Schelstraete.
